Pike Fishing at the Pit
Published: 27 June 2025
It’s been bought to our attention that some people are fishing for Pike at the pit. As many experienced anglers know, you shouldn’t fish for pike during warmer months, and it’s generally accepted that an unofficial pike fishing season runs from October 1st to March 14th.
High air and water temperatures can lead to decreased oxygen levels. This increases stress, reduces feeding activity, and increases a pike’s vulnerability to diseases. Additionally, prolonged exposure to excessively high air temperatures can even result in fish mortality.
If you are found to be lure fishing and/or specifically targeting pike during this closed season you will be asked to change tackle or cease fishing altogether. Manea Parish Council have authorised our Bailiffs to enforce this.
